This North facing site feature a steep drive access to a carport tucked under the upper story of this 70’s house. The only way to negotiate the drive was to reverse back down making a very awkward access. The other dysfunctional aspect was the pedestrian connection from the front door to street. Design collaboration between Pascal, and Nikolas forged a scheme to provide 3 car garaging, with internal access, street frontage landscaping with pedestrian stair from the footpath level. The 9 metre wide garage was formed using precast panels, with hollowcore roof which allowed a sand lawn to placed on top over a protective envelope of waterproofing. This is the most functional form of ‘green roof’ which provided a north facing lawn flowing out from the new rumpus room which took over the obsolete carport space.
